He glanced around casually, making sure nobody was watching before he carried out his attempt. Materializing the answer sheet into the space he prepared, he waited for the teacher to notice. But the voice never came. There was no shout from the teacher or surprised glances from the other students. His plan had worked. He had successfully rearranged the particles around the air such that they bent light and made the paper appear invisible to all. No one would be able to see it unless they sat at his exact position. He disliked this method; it could be unreliable at times- something he had found out during his experiments- but he hated failing his papers even more. He hadn't studied for this test at all. Quickly, he copied down the answers and handed the paper in. He loosened the atoms that found the answer sheet, dissolving it back into the air. He grabbed his backpack and left.
He only realized he could manipulate matter a few years back. Even when he found out his powers, he never told anyone and went through life as though there was nothing differeny. Not like there was anyone he could tell anyway. So far, his favourite trick was to form wings for himself and fly wherever he wanted. It was difficult and painful if he didn't numb the pain properly but in the end, it was worth it. Like now for example. He steadied his breathe and closed his eyes to concentrate. Picturing midnight black feather wings which resembled that of an angel's, he materialized the wings onto his back, joining the muscles at the same time, numbing the pain receptors till the process was over.
He opened his eyes and ruffled his wings to test them out. Perfect.
